Einstein rings

Einstein rings

Time for some science! :)

This is pretty exciting cosmological stuff…

“Images from the Hubble telescope reveal eight new Einstein rings, joining only three others previously known. Einstein rings are pairs of galaxies, with a foreground galaxy bending the light of a background galaxy into a ring by gravitational effects. The ring helps astronomers precisely estimate the mass of the foreground galaxy.”

Will be exciting to see what the new data will reveal about the formation of galaxies and our universe.

Partners in crime

Partners in crime

This was last December when Andy was down from Brisbane and on her last night we went out to Glebe and wreaked sweetly outrageous public havoc together… the scene was almost like after a Paris riot with cars turned on their backs ;)

But the energies weren’t quenched cause at home there was some more wrestling and craziness to be had…

Andy, you are a force to reckon with!! :)
Tiff, you are such an amazing and crazy bitch!
And Craig, you are the best partner in crime…
Me… I’m a lucky and rather free girl these days!!

MDMA for PTSD

MDMA for PTSD

The Washington Post had a very interesting article recently on how ecstasy can be used to treat PTSD. There’s a long history of how recreational drugs got banned even when they are less harmful than alcohol or can be highly useful in medicine (not to mention all the arguments for legalisation for sheer pleasure and doing away with gang warfare, illegal production… blah blah).

Fortunately a few doctors are pushing the envelope and after decades of lobbying are now finally getting approval for limited trials. Wish there were more of these!

I myself had suffered from PTSD and would have greatly appreciated this drug to speed up treatment and help me on my way to recovery!

I hope it’ll eventually be available for this use if not for a more widespread use… the usual one of enhancing experiences and having pleasurable rides…

The Peace Drug

The Peace Drug
Post-traumatic stress disorder had destroyed Donna Kilgore’s life. Then experimental therapy with MDMA, a drug better known as ecstasy, showed her a way out. Was it a fluke — or the future?
