Writing…

Writing…

It’s been a long weekend of stress and writing and pain… stress because I have to finish the article I’m working on and it’s way more work than I thought. My deadline is Monday morning and I have to deliver it at a meeting at 2pm.

I still have a few hours to go to complete the draft. Sometimes my writing flows and I have flashes of brilliance, but not this weekend, it seems I’ve been fighting for every word, it’s so HARD!! It’s also been rather lonely and kinda boring. I’m a very social creature.

What am I writing on? It’s a sociological article about how to apply Pierre Bourdieu’s field theory to the area of science and how it’s done in the project I’m working on… looking at a large cutting-edge scientific centre and applying Bourdieu’s concepts… if only I had colleagues to talk to instead of isolation, I can’t seem to think without discussions.

I also need to go back to my GP, I have an ear infection now… how bloody boring!! More anti-biotics I’m sure.. but I really want to get better for our trip to Thailand!! Craig also needs to get better.

This is my carrot through the writing… the gorgeous places we’ll visit… I so need to relax!!! Bring it on!!!

But first… some more work, some running around, more meds… ah it’s exhausting…

Crying shame…

Crying shame…

Politics rolls on, fighting continues, people keep dying. It seems incredible that we can keep eating our dinner and watch the same news of people dying again and again.

Will it ever change? We’ll see… we’ll have a new US president next week, a continuing financial crisis and all the different regions in the world caught up in their own dynamic… with religion, geopolitical interest and desperation continuing to lead events…

Here’s an interesting article on the present Israeli-Palestinian war from OpenDemocrazy, an interesting starting point for discussion.
Israel and Gaza: rhetoric and reality by Avi Shlaim

I just discovered the music of Jack Johnson and this is one of the strongest songs on ‘In between dreams’… he’s not usually political and even when he is it’s less about taking sides and more about observing the sad and awful dynamics that keep on churning and churning humans caught up in them…

* I’m writing an article on philosophy of social science and using Bourdieu to study science

* I’m sad and happy at the same time.. so much happening with so many people around me (breakups, operations, hospitals, grieving)… I guess that’s poly life, rich but sometimes mixed like everything else… wish I could reach out to all my friends and lovers and make it all better somehow.

* I’m leaving for Thailand next week!!! Craig and I have accommodation on two islands but yet to book for Phuket

* gotta get my vaccination!!

* doing low key experimental photography tomorrow night after work.. and getting to know someone new while doing it 🙂

* apparently a 40C+ heatwave is coming to Sydney very soon… beach? nah, gotta finish article!

* today I inserted my own PhD reference in the article I’m writing… Antalffy came right before Bourdieu… freaked me out! 😛

* Tam’s dhal is the best!! Gotta have some more tonight…

* can’t wait to move house as soon as workmen finish renovations… other end of the street! finally I get rid of my neighbours who always drill at 7am!

* overseas hospital fees from last year drive me crazy… insurance claim got bogged down in university bureaucracy, have no time to go to embassy as hospital is threatening with legal action, Medicare can only be claimed if I went back to Holland… and today I was 5 metres from the bank to pay the fee ahead when gale force winds ripped ALL the paperwork out of my hands… thought I was going to scream!!!

* I’m messaging with poly people in Perth… and dreaming about doing a national poly festival some day!!

* so many friends to see before flying out, don’t think I’ll manage… love you all! 🙂

* want to write more to my brother in prison, more photos and more magazines saved up

* incidentally Budapest now has more gas supplies (Russia/Ukraine conflict resolved) and smog is easing there (first ever traffic restrictions because of smog levels in the last few days, don’t even want to imagine brrrrr)

* I’m a bit hyper and all over the place but enjoying it 😀

* could do with some yoga and meditation 😛

* yep, I’m still a nerd last time I checked… check out the plush particles from the GiantMicrobes people… above in the picture you silly!

party & poly social

party & poly social

It’s Monday night and I’m just stretching out at home… despite a crazy weekend I managed to get back to work ok.. got an article to finish this week, so just as well!

Weekend was fantastic!! Went to a party on Friday night that stretched right into Saturday. Lots of wonderful kinky friends! Yumm.

Of course I love special parties for the buzz and play, but the most important thing is re-connecting with so many close friends, introducing them to each other and getting lost in the sexy and loving premordial soup that we create.

Lots of flavours, lots of textures, lots of heat!! 🙂

Had a wonderful time with Craig afterwards, it’s so special to be able to go our own ways at parties, sometimes touching base then going home and having some time together.

There are no photos so you’ll have to do with this one.. hehehe.

Managed to drag myself to the poly social on Sunday, was great to catch up a bit and hang out. I’m leaving for Thailand very soon so won’t get the chance to be at a poly event til late Feb…
