Savage Love

Savage Love

Oh Dan Savage, you crazy awesome unique mofo of a human being!

Savage Love podcast

Been listening to his Savage Love cast lately, an awesome mix of advice and admonishment on love, relationships and what goes on between your legs (or wherever you do it). If you want irreverent, candid, extremely open and honest, totally poly kinky and queer friendly advice on sex and relationships with a big dash of wittiness, humour and advice that psychotherapists should seriously listen to as well, then you can’t go past Savage.

In gay/queer and sex positive circles he’s a hero and it’s well deserved. He runs his blog and podcast with panache, a wealth of experience and passion for nudging humanity in a more enlightened direction one desperate caller at a time… from totally lost and searching teenagers to sex educators and evolved sluts with the most complicated scenarios and questions.

He’ll handle any angle, he’s very versatile! I warned you ;)

Go and listen to it now, you’ll love it.

Here’s one of the written advice columns I loved recently on open marriage, jealousy, being a decent human being, humiliation and how to find a kinky partner:
Double Trouble

He also does videos and there are many gems in this one:

Chris + Niko – 1 year anniversary :)

Chris + Niko - 1 year anniversary :)

Chris and I celebrated our first anniversary last weekend. We are extremely happy to have each other and share so much of the world and other people :) Such richness of existence, when I think about it I break out in crazy big grins.

We went back to the cafe where we first met then went for some fetish shopping and finally chilled together.

I also got my hair cut short and dykey as usual, which gave us an opportunity for a huggy shot… enjoy :)

My wish for all my friends is to have a lot of happiness, to share it around and revel in the richness of existence we all create together… lots of love from me, Niko.

ps: do we look like we are on V (vampire blood in True Blood)? Hehehehe

Epilepsy is dancing!!

Epilepsy is dancing!!

Wow!! Never thought someone would write a song like this and show the utter magic and vulnerability of epilepsy.. Seizures can be difficult (and rarely dangerous unless it’s grand mal and the person is in a dangerous place/situation) and weird from outside, they can also be magical, mind blowing and amazing from inside. Often they come on much slower than it’s shown here.

Of course seizures can also be distressing, weird, confusing and uncomfortable, though very rarely painful (sometimes I have orgasms in mine!). If you ever see someone seizuring try not to stare or panic, if they are ok probably leave them alone… if they are down just make sure they are comfy, warm and maybe have their medication. Don’t do anything weird, don’t put anything in their mouths, they are most likely ok. Grand mal is treated with medication, so the seizure you are most likely to observe is a partial less dangerous one. The person might be confused or unable to talk, their body might be moving, but as long as they are breathing and looking ok, they ARE ok, ok? :)

I think we understand so little about epilepsy and the brain still.. and I feel the need to celebrate its magic, its creativity and yes the humanity that comes through being vulnerable, imperfect and different from everyone else.

Thank you Anthony and the Johnsons for this gift… this video says more about epilepsy and the potential beauty it contains, then any blog entry can… I feel blessed right now :)

Maybe in the future I can strap your brain onto someone else’s with a seizure and one day you too can experience the mind blowing intensity and creativity of a partial-complex seizure. In the meantime, enjoy this clip :)

Epilepsy is dancing
She’s the Christ now departing
And I’m finding my rhythm
As I twist in the snow

For the metal burned in me
Down the brain of my river
For the fire was searching
For a waterway home

I cry, ””Glitter is love!””
My eyes pinned inside
With green jewels
Hanging like Christmas stars from a golden vein

As I came to a screaming
Hold me while I’m dreaming
For my fingers are curling
And I cannot breathe

Then I cried in the kitchen
How I’d seen your ghost witching
There’s a soldering blue line
Between my eyes

Cut me in quadrants
Leave me in the corner
Cut me in quadrants
Leave me in the corner
Cut me in quadrants
Leave me in the corner
Cut me in quadrants
Leave me in the corner

Ooh now, it’s passing
Ooh now, I’m dancing
Ooh now, it’s passing
Ooh now, I’m dancing
Ooh now, it’s passing
Ooh now, I’m dancing
Ooh now, it’s passing
Ooh now, I’m dancing

Also one of his most popular songs in a really moving performance… so wondrous, so moving… thanks you Anthony and the Johnsons for your amazing wonderful gifts and showing what a really beautiful song can be like without resorting to the bland mediocrity of mainstream culture… thank you.

Fuck homophobic hate! (up the arse?)

Fuck homophobic hate! (up the arse?)

This video is awesome…. can we counter homophobia and hatred with being really lovely and civil? Sometimes we need something a bit punchier than that… I’m not saying hate back, I’m saying draw attention to hatred and say ‘fuck it’, it doesn’t cut it, it’s disgusting and unacceptable and in all our diversity we won’t put up with it anymore..

This was a reaction to the Proposition 8 politics in the US, but can be borrowed freely for all homophobic places… of course in many countries same-sex rights are not even on the agenda so very different actions are needed, but in countries where the fight isn’t against decriminalisation but against discrimination and for equal rights, this hits the spot.

Damn fucking right.
